PROFILE
Wang Peiyi is a Chinese designer based in Beijing, well known for his collections of couture and wedding gowns.
He began his career in fashion after graduating from China’s best design academy, 'the Central Technology Academy of Fine Arts'. He worked as a designer in several large apparel companies before starting his own label in 2005. In that same year, he opened his studio in Beijing, featuring Haute couture and leasing business.
Wang Peiyi’s collections consist of a wide range of evening gowns, cocktail dresses and other couture creations; his unique style is a combination of romantic beauty and powerful strength.
RECOGNITION
Many high profile celebrities have worn creations by Wang Peiyi - including such A-list stars as as Gong Li, Zhang Ziyi, Fan Bingbing and Cindy Crawford. One of his wedding dresses featured in the romantic blockbuster 'If You Are the One 2' - which earned over half a billion Chinese Yuan (US$80 million) at the box office.
Wang Peiyi’s creations and his annual fashion shows have earned praise by the fashion media including; Vogue, Bazaar, Elle, Cosmopolitan, L‘Officiel, Self, Beijing Youth Weekly, Numero and Fashion Bride.
Wang Peiyi has received abundant recognitions both within and outside the fashion industry. He was named Designer of the Year in 2010 by the Chinese Fashion Channel and Beijing News. In 2011, during Hong Kong Fashion Week, he was the only designer from mainland China invited to participate in the high profile 'Extravaganza Show'. That same year, he was named as one of the 25 Most Influential Chinese designers in Global Fashion by Forbes . He also received the Elle Style Award for Best Independent Designer in 2011 and the Style China Award for Best Cross-over Pioneer Designer from Marie Claire in 2012.
